How to live your dream life.
In order to figure out how to live your dream life, you need to know what it is. This is the time to do some self-assessment. Denise says, “Sometimes we can stay where we are because it’s comfortable, even if we don’t like it.” I totally agree!
ThiNk About these 7 areas in your life
- Business (or work)
- and Giving Back
Now, rate these on a scale of one to ten based on where you currently are. Then take time to figure out what a ten looks like in each area. Get creative here and don’t hold back. This isn’t the time to think about what’s realistic or possible. Just be creative.
This is going to be your vision. This vision is the motivation you’ll use to keep going when it gets hard.
Ok, is it overwhelming to think about improving all these areas now? No worries! Just focus in on one area and get excited about it. That’s the one you can go after right now.
Limiting beliefs and Fear holding you back?
Acknowledge the fear.
Knowledge is power. Now that you know what it is, you can do something about it. Say aloud what it is. Like, “I’m feeling the fear of failure.”
It may seem like a small thing, but it helps. Denise says when you practice doing this, the fear is still there, but it’s quieter. Then the vision of what you want gets louder.
Don’t know how a vision of what you want helps you design your dream life? Check this out. Here’s what she say’s about vision:
“Having a vision is like an internal GPS. When you know where you’re going and you’re excited about it, the how can show up for you”.
How Gratitude is Key to how to live your dream life
Like the law of attraction says, like attracts like. So when you’re thinking about all of what you’re grateful for, you’ll see more and more things like that come into your life. If you need help setting up a gratitude practice, I’ve got you covered here and here.
Reticular Activating System
We have so much to take in every day that our brains can’t handle it all. So, it filters out what it thinks is important based on what you’re thinking about. This is called the reticular activating system.
She uses the example of a yellow beetle car. If you start thinking about it, soon you’ll see them everywhere. This is the same with positivity or negativity. If you’re always pointing out what’s wrong in your life and in the world, you’re only going to see more of it.
But if you’re diligent about what you’re grateful for, then you’ll start to see more and more things to feel grateful for. You can train the reticular activating system!
Create a Clear Personal Plan for your dream life
Let’s go back to the one area in your life you want to make a 10. Picture what you’re like at a 10. Get as clear on this vision of you as possible. This is what’s not only to go motivate you, but this should get you excited.
Now it’s action time. What’s ONE thing you can do each day to move towards that vision of you. Because it’s great if you have a vision, but you have to take action.
What about the day’s you fall off the wagon?
The struggle is real. When you set a goal and a vision, it’s the honeymoon phase for a while. You’re pluggin’ along and make real progress.
Then it fades, and it’s harder to keep up.
That’s when the fear and questions creep in. Here’s what do do if you have thoughts like, “Is this worth it? What if I fail“
- Take time to remember your why. And I mean really take time to sit and remember what your vision is. Rember the excitement you had when you discovered why you’re doing this.
- Have Self-care practices in place, every day! It doesn’t have to be crazy, but it has to be consistent.
- Remember, slow and steady wins the race and every small step make a difference. Like Denise says, “When you stay consistent in one direction, you create momentum”
As you work on your dreams, you’ll second guess yourself. You’ll make mistakes. But here’s the thing, mistakes are just learning lessons to help make you better. The only true mistake is giving up completely!
Take inspired action towards your dream life
When you’re taking action and you’re excited the time really flies. At the same time, when you’re doing something and it’s miserable, time drags on.
Denise uses the example of being in a traffic jam. If you’re sitting and stewing about having to be in traffic, you’ll be there for what seems like forever. But if you’re on the phone with a friend, it’s like you’re flying!
An inspired action is an action when you’re happy. You’ll get more done when you’re inspired instead of forced action. So remember that as you’re working on your dream. Are you forcing yourself? Then maybe it’s time for a break and some self-care.
