Have you ever looked at someone with a bubbly personality and wondered, “How the hell do you find motivation every day and are always so happy?” Don’t worry, it’s not just you.
But, don’t worry, I’ve got a few ideas on how to stay motivated every day. I can’t promise that I’ll turn you into the bubbly friend, but I can say is that you’ll find a surge of motivation when you need it.
Say your vision loud and proud
I’ll probably talk about having a vision for your life until the day I die. There’re many things I believe in this world, and having a vision is one of them. Without a strong vision for what you want, you’ll fall short of your goals.
If you’re in the middle of setting goals, then creating a vision for the life you want is key to following through.
You need to have something REAL to work towards to find motivation every day. You should be able to see your desired future and outcome so clearly that it’s like you can picture like a movie in your head. If you want some extra help learning how to create a vision, then c’mon over to this post.
Don’t give into the Instant Gratification-er Inside you
When I was trying to go all-in on my fitness goals, I learned a lesson that would change the way I strived for success. And that was when I give into instant gratification, I lose out on a better future.
Still thinking fitness, every I said “yes” to not working out, I was saying “no” to my future, healthy self. It was like I was stealing her life from her.
Now, I know that not every situation is like this, but most are. So, when you lack motivation, I bet you don’t want to take action at the moment. Maybe you hear that version of yourself that negotiates who says, “You don’t have to do this now, do it later.”
So, an important part of long term success comes from being able to recognize when we are giving in to instant gratification and robbing ourselves of a future we actually want.
Don’t hurt the future you in your vision all because the present you want to give in to something at the moment.
While I know this isn’t exactly a tip for you to find motivation every day, but I think it’s important to know. Because if you can feel yourself giving in to the instant gratification that you KNOW isn’t good for your desired future, it helps to avoid it.
You’ve got to believe in yourself (you actually have the power)
I know, a generic saying like, “Just believe in yourself!” isn’t going to do the trick. So don’t worry, I won’t leave you with just that. But what I DO want to do is remind you of the power that you have.
Another thing I truly believe in is where dreams come from and who controls them. Wanna know who the master of your dreams and goals are? It’s you! You’re 100% in control of the dreams you make and the ones you break.
Do you dream of losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle?
Do you dream of finally finishing your degree?
Do you dream of being confident enough to go out in the world unafraid of who you are? And unafraid to stand up for yourself?
Well good news, YOU are the one that can accomplish these or fail at them. And by fail, I mean, by giving up. The only way you can actually fail your dream is if you give up entirely.
So, like I said, good news because anything you want to do is totally possible. But bad news (maybe) because it puts all the responsibility on you.
So, How does knowing this actually help you find motivation every day?
Because on the days that you have fallen off the bandwagon and ask, “Should I just give up? I’ve already messed up this much.” You can answer with “NO!” because you know that the only way to truly fail is to give up entirely.
If you’ve only made one baby step towards your goal today, but you’re feeling unmotivated to do anymore, then celebrate your step. And give yourself some grace for the rest. You may not be killin’ it every single day, but if you’re moving forward at a turtle’s pace, then you’re still ahead of where you were.
You might have heard versions of this advice somewhere else, but it’s worth repeating. For me, when I remind myself that the only way I fail is if I give up and that even a tiny step is progress, then it’s less overwhelming to take another baby step.
All those baby steps add up, you know? 😉
Did you scroll to the bottom too fast? Here’s a Recap
Seriously, you’ve got this. It’s IN you. While I know you can’t be 100% motivated every day, you CAN at least keep your eyes forward. Here’s how:
- Create a vision of what like looks like after your big goal. (Head here if you need help!)
- Don’t give in to the instant gratification if it hurts that version of you in your vision!
- Remind yourself that only you can fail at your dreams
