If you’ve dealt with negative body image thoughts (a.k.a. ALL of us) then this episode is for you!
Today on the show I am chatting with Amy Adams from Conscience Life Space about how she struggled with body image to the point where she felt shameful.
She talks about how practicing yoga gave her a new sense of self and how you can start your yoga practice!
Listen here!
She spent some time unhealthy, and as she was recovering from her illnesses, she struggled with a negative body image.
When she started, she felt overwhelmed and too embarrassed to go to a yoga studio on her own.
When she started yoga, changes in her weight didn’t happen immediately. But as she grew her practice, she became more in tune with herself and appreciated her body.
She talks about how she started to learn to love her body and the parts of her she initially didn’t feel great about.
Something that she said that I loved was, “you’re more than your body. You’re not just a lump of meat”
While this was happening, changes in her relationships and divorce led her into a depression.
During two dramatic times in her life, she learned to use gratitude as a way to help her through.
Questions I ask Amy:
- What are some ways anyone feeling self loathing can start to pull themselves out?
- How did Yoga help you heal?
- How can listeners start doing yoga even if it seems scary?
